I was totally agoraphobic for over 17 years and I survived
and I am now panic and anxiety free with the use of Ativan.
No one will ever be cured from panic and anxiety attacks,
unless they frist know what is causing them...

It is easy for people to write self help books about the subject
but unless they have lived the life, they have no indea what
they are talking about.

I have no book... nothing to sell, just stating my opinion
because I know what it is like to live the life and overcome
it to recover.

Take my advice don't get hooked into believing there is
some kind of magic pill, words or snake oil. One size does
not fit all.

I recovered with both the help of medication and a doctor
to talk with about my feelings and fears. I had to do a lot
of un-doing what I had believed before I started to get well
and believe me it is a on going thing you have to pratice daily
for the rest of your life.

1. If you are out... stay out! Don't give up your freedom,
do what ever you have to do to not become agoraphibic
because of your panic and anxiety.

2. You will never have a panic attack again like the first big
on that got you in the first place... from then on they are part
panic and part memory.

3. There is no such thing as a "comfort zone" it is only in your
mind and because it is only in your mind you can expand it to
any degree in area. You are no safer at home that you would
be at work or any other place. If your going to have a panic
attack, you going to have it and fighting only makes it worse.

4. Get to a real doctor, get on medication and stop the panic
then you can work on finding out what caused them in the first
place.

Far too many people try to devalue your troubles, claiming "I understand
your troubles, because..." and they'll come up with petty little things that
most people have experienced, telling you that all you have to do is "trust
god", and other useless crap. They are less than no help, and can seriously
set you back, if you let them. You must find strength from within yourself;
no one can do it for you.

It's a damned shame that we have to deal with heartless crooks, who prey
upon the mentally ill.

Simply talking to another with similar problems can help to shed light on
those problems.

Heh. It's perfectly normal, to want an easy route to happiness. The
trouble is, the easy ways are not going to get you down the right road.

Yup. Until you've thoroughly reevaluated your memories, things can pop up
and blindside you.

#4 is the real heart of it. Sometimes, one needs to find those who have
direct information of the events that lead to the problem. I was lucky, in
that once things started going bad, someone finally volunteered info that
they'd been sitting on for the last 46 years. One should never conceal that
sort of information from a victim. If I'd had that info much earlier, I'd
have gotten help _much_ sooner, and probably would never have experienced
the meltdowns that finally led to my asking for help.
